Text to song means you type a description and get back a complete song: words, melody, a singer and a band. You do not write any lyrics. That makes it the right starting point when you have an idea, a feeling or an occasion, but not the words.
It is easy to confuse with nearby tools. Text-to-speech reads your text aloud in a speaking voice. Instrumental music generators produce a backing track with no singing. Text to song gives you a sung song with a verse and a chorus. If you already have lyrics, paste them instead; that is a different workflow.
What happens after you press create
Your description is used twice. First, lyrics are written to fit the subject and language you asked for, arranged into sections such as verse and chorus. Then the song is generated from those lyrics and the musical side of your description: genre, singer, mood and instruments. The finished vocal is transcribed and checked against the lyrics so lines that came out wrong are flagged.
That is why a two-word description such as "love song" sounds generic. Every detail you leave out is filled with the most common choice.
The anatomy of a good description
A useful description covers two things: what the song is about, and how it should sound. Aim for one to three sentences that include most of these:
- Subject or story: who or what the song is about, with one concrete detail.
- Language: Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, English, Bhojpuri and so on. Also set the Language picker.
- Singer: male, female or duet, and a quality such as soft, raspy or powerful.
- Genre and mood: Bollywood ballad, Punjabi pop, lo-fi, ghazal, rock; hopeful, nostalgic, playful.
- Tempo: slow, mid-tempo or fast is enough.
- Two or three instruments: tabla, bansuri, piano, dhol, acoustic guitar, strings.
Weak vs strong descriptions
- Weak: "sad Hindi song". Strong: "a slow Hindi song about a son missing his mother's cooking after moving to Bengaluru, soft male vocal, piano and sarangi, nostalgic".
- Weak: "Punjabi party song". Strong: "Punjabi bhangra song about a cousin's wedding where the whole family dances, male vocal, fast dhol, tumbi, celebratory chorus".
- Weak: "motivational song". Strong: "English pop-rock song about a first marathon, steady build from quiet verse to big chorus, female vocal, live drums and electric guitar".
- Weak: "bhajan". Strong: "Hindi Krishna bhajan about Vrindavan mornings, gentle female vocal, harmonium, flute and manjira, peaceful".
Step by step on Autunes
Open Create and stay on the Simple tab. Type your description into Describe your song. Check the Language picker: it starts on Hindi and switches if your description names an Indian language, but the singer follows whatever it says, so confirm it. Leave Instrumental only off if you want singing. Press create; the song is usually ready in 2 to 4 minutes.
If you want a bit more control without writing lyrics, the Custom tab has Auto Generate. You describe the theme for the lyrics in one box and add style tags such as "bollywood, romantic, 80 bpm, female vocal" separately, which keeps the story and the sound apart.
Credits and engines
Zori5 Turbo costs 10 credits a song. Zori5.5 XL costs 15 credits and sounds richer. On the free plan, songs from a description use Turbo; free users get XL only when they paste their own lyrics. Pro and Creator can use XL on any song. New accounts get 15 credits once, so a first text-to-song track on Turbo leaves 5 credits for one variation.
Reading the result and iterating
Listen once for the sound and once for the words. If the sound is wrong, change the musical part of your description. If the sound is right but the words are off, keep the description and add the detail the lyrics missed, such as a name, a city or a specific memory.
If you like most of the lyrics and want to change only a few lines, copy them into the Custom tab under Write Own, edit them, and generate again with the same style. At that point you are working from lyrics, which also unlocks XL on the free plan. On Pro and Creator, edit section re-sings a single line for 3 credits, and a variation, a fresh take of the same song, costs 5 credits on any plan (the free plan gets one).
Download, rights and honest limits
Free-plan songs are for personal use; the ₹9 single-song licence gives you the download and commercial use of that song. Pro (₹599 for 30 days) and Creator (₹2,999 for 30 days) include downloads and a commercial licence for every song, with no royalty and no credit to Autunes required.
- AI-written lyrics can be pleasant but general. Details in your description are what make them specific.
- Very long descriptions do not help. Two or three clear sentences beat a paragraph.
- Do not ask for a famous song's tune or a real singer's voice; describe the era and mood instead.
- Songs run up to 3 minutes on Free and Pro and up to 5 minutes on Creator.
