What defines Hindi rap today
Desi hip-hop covers several sounds, and naming one gives the beat and the delivery a clear target. Tempos here are typical ranges.
- Boom-bap: around 85-95 BPM, punchy kick and snare, sampled feel, storytelling verses. The classic street-rap sound.
- Trap: often 130-150 BPM felt in half time, rolling hi-hats, deep 808 bass, punchy and repetitive hooks.
- Drill: around 140-145 BPM, sliding 808s, choppy off-beat drums, cold delivery.
- Desi fusion: hip-hop drums with dhol, tumbi, sarangi or shehnai samples, common in Punjabi and Haryanvi rap.
- Delivery: from relaxed and conversational to fast and aggressive. Say which you want.
Step 1: Write a 16-bar verse
A standard verse is 16 bars; think of it as 16 lines, each landing on roughly one bar of the beat. Keep syllable counts close across lines. A line twice as long as its neighbours forces the vocal to rush or spill over. End rhymes keep the verse together, and internal rhymes inside a line make it sound skilled. Hindi gives you plenty: raat, baat, saath, haath; khwaab, jawaab, hisaab.
Write the hook separately. Keep it shorter, simpler and more repetitive than the verse, four to eight lines built to loop. That contrast is what makes it read as a chorus. Here are original lines to adapt, in Devanagari and Roman:

Step 2: Prompt the beat separately
Put tempo, drums, bass and regional colour in the style box and keep the lyrics box for words only. Beat descriptions inside the lyrics can get sung. A prompt steers the beat but does not guarantee every element on every take.

Step 3: Generate in Autunes

Step 4: Check the flow
Listen for whether stressed syllables land on the beat's strong counts. If one line keeps rushing or dragging, it is usually a syllable mismatch with the lines around it. Trim the line and try again. Rap delivery also varies from take to take, so two takes of the same lyrics can flow differently. A variation (5 credits) gives a fresh take; select a section of the waveform and only that part changes. The free plan includes one variation; Pro and Creator are unlimited. Pro gives up to 2 takes per generation and Creator up to 3.
Step 5: Fix a slurred or wrong line
Fast Hindi lines are where a word comes out slurred. Every finished vocal is transcribed and checked against your lyrics, and lines that came out wrong are flagged. On Pro and Creator you have two fixes. Auto-fix pronunciation (10 credits) re-records only the lines that do not match and leaves the beat and the rest of the take alone; if it finds nothing to fix, the credits come back. You can also pick up to five lines yourself to re-sing on the same melody.
Or edit a section by hand (3 credits): select the passage on the waveform, retype the words and regenerate just that span. Select at least 20 seconds, because shorter windows do not carry the new words reliably.
Release it, and the licence
Free-plan songs are for personal use and public on Autunes by default. The ₹9 single-song licence gives you the download and commercial use of that song forever. Pro (₹599 for 30 days) and Creator (₹2,999 for 30 days) include a commercial licence on every song: monetised YouTube, reels and release on Spotify, JioSaavn and other services through any distributor, with no royalty. Write about your own life and keep lines about real people fair. Do not ask for a famous rapper's voice; describe the delivery you want instead.
Common mistakes
- Pasting a paragraph instead of bars.
- Lines of wildly different lengths in one verse.
- Putting beat instructions in the lyrics box.
- A hook as long as a verse.
- Regenerating the whole song to fix one word.
