Urdu script, and the four letters that all sound like 'z'
Urdu is written in the Perso-Arabic script, and it has several letters that a Roman transliteration collapses into one — ز, ذ, ض and ظ all become 'z'. The distinctions matter for spelling and for how a line scans, so write in Urdu script rather than Roman.
Ghazal and qawwali are structural forms, not just moods. If you want one, say so explicitly and name the instrumentation — harmonium, tabla, sarangi — rather than relying on the word 'Urdu' to imply it.
- Urdu script rather than Roman transliteration.
- Name the form: ghazal, qawwali, nazm.
- Harmonium, tabla and sarangi for a traditional arrangement.
