I like to think of everything

Mulling things over, using reasoning

Too afraid, to look inside

Deal with my emotions, figure out just what I'm feeling

But now it's time, to just dive in

And I know it won't be easy

Lord tell me where do I begin

I've been down this road so many times

Made the same mistakes over and over and over

But You've proven to be faithful

Cause You began a good work in me

And I know You'll see it through

Father I thank You

Father I thank You

Now I'm finally back on this journey

Lord I need You more than ever

Let the healing begin

I was made in Your image

Let me see the way You see me

Love myself like You love me

And finally make me feel worthy

Of Your love and Your forgiveness

And may I finally find peace

Cause I've been down this road so many times

Made the same mistakes over and over and over

But You've proven to be faithful

Cause You began a good work in me

And I know You'll see it through

Father I thank You

Father I thank You

Growing up my feelings were never entertained

I learned to hide the truth and to ignore my pain

Was not a lack of trying but so hard to explain

So no-one understood and things remained the same

No-one to validate that what I felt was real

Told serving God was not about how we feel

Don't let the prince of lies come like a thief in the night and steal

Surrender all to Him, just pray and He will surely heal

God, I begged for Your help but got no reply

Felt You abandoned me and didn't know the reason why

So in who else could I, trust to do, the things You do

I ended giving up and eventually, I left You

Tried to do it on my own, lean on my fellow man

Exacerbated things, lost myself to this world and

Had good intentions, made decisions and made many plans

Stuck in the desert still not reaching for the Saviours hand

But I am merely just the clay and not the Potter who

Creates with purpose since before in my mother's womb

And in my foolishness I tried to take that job from You

As if creation could do what only You can do

Then like prodigal son, I finally sought out Your Grace

In desperation pleaded one more time and then the answer came

Maybe this time I asked for what You ordained for me

Not acting on my own but waiting on You patiently

Hard work ahead, won't be easy, but I don't mind

Requires transparency, brutal honesty and a lot of time

To face things I repressed and accept You made me worthy

In You I'll find true peace, live under Your authority

I've been down this road so many times

But You've proven to be faithful

Father I thank You

Father I thank You

Father I thank You

Father I thank You
