How do you replace lyrics in an AI song without regenerating it?

Published 4 November 2026

Short answer

Open the song in Autunes Studio, choose Lyrics, select the section with the line you want to change (at least 20 seconds), type the new words and choose Keep the music. Only that section is re-sung, for 3 credits. For mispronounced words, Auto-fix finds and re-sings the wrong lines (10 credits). For changing the whole song's feel and some words at once, use Flow. These tools are on Pro and Creator.

It happens to everyone who makes songs with AI: the melody is great, the chorus is perfect, and one line in the second verse says the wrong thing. Or a name comes out mispronounced. Or you wrote "tum" and it should have been "aap". Generating the whole song again rolls the dice on everything that worked.

Editing just the part that is wrong is the better route. Autunes has three tools for it, each for a different kind of change.

Change a line or a verse: Lyrics

Lyrics re-sings one section of the song with new words. Open the song in Studio, choose Lyrics and drag across the part that contains the line. Pick at least 20 seconds; very short selections do not give the model enough to work with. Type the new lines for that section and choose how much the music may change.

  • Keep the music: only the words change. Best for a single wrong line.
  • Balanced: words change and the music can adapt a little.
  • Rewrite it: a freer re-take of that section.

Tips for a clean replacement

  • Match the syllable count of the old line. A line with many more syllables has to be rushed to fit.
  • Select from a natural break, such as the start of a verse, to the next break, so the join is invisible.
  • Write Hindi, Punjabi or Tamil lyrics in their own script rather than in Roman letters; it improves pronunciation.
  • If the first try is close but not right, try again before changing the words.

Fix mispronounced words: Auto-fix

If the problem is how a word is sung rather than what it says, Auto-fix listens for lines that do not match the lyrics and re-sings them, or re-sings up to five lines you pick. It costs 10 credits and takes about 5-10 minutes. It is marked Beta for Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Odia, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam scripts.

Change the feel and the words together: Flow

Sometimes the words are fine but the song is wrong for them: too bright for a sad lyric, too loud for a lullaby. Flow asks two things, how the song sounds now ("It is now") and how it should sound ("Make it"), and moves the whole song towards the new description while keeping its melody, structure and timing. The Words box lets you change any lines at the same time. Flow is on Pro and Creator and uses credits from your plan balance.

Cutting instead of replacing

If a section should simply not be there, such as an extra verse or a long outro, Cut removes it with a smooth crossfade, instantly, for 1 credit. There is no tool to extend a song; to make it longer, generate a new song with more lyrics.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change one word only?

Select the smallest section around the word that is still at least 20 seconds, change the word in the lyrics and choose Keep the music.

Does the singer's voice change after editing?

The section is re-sung in the context of the rest of the song. Keep the music changes the least. If a retake sounds different, try again.

Which plan do I need?

Lyrics edits (3 credits), Auto-fix (10 credits), Flow and Cut (1 credit) are on Pro and Creator.

Can I edit a song I uploaded?

Yes, after checking the transcribed words. Uploads ask for the sung language so the lyrics can be transcribed before you fix or remix them.
